From the Fence Line to the Flight Line
Meet KEN
Ken’s obsession with the sky began on a wooden rail fence under the busy flight patterns at the Abbotsford Airport. As a young boy, he wasn’t just watching the hammerheads and loops; he was listening to the voices over the loudspeakers, captivated by how they turned a flight routine into a legendary experience. Even then, he knew those announcers had the best gig in the world.
In 2005, Ken stepped behind the microphone under the mentorship of industry legends. Today, he is a seasoned solo announcer and has brought his voice to major stages across the world. From the coastal views of Vancouver and Fort Lauderdale to the flight lines of Toronto, Atlanta, and even Japan! His unique "dual-threat" background sets him apart:
Aviation Cred: A licensed private pilot and an active member of ICAS & NWCAS.
Artistic Vision: A professional theatre director and actor (Executive Director of Gallery 7 Theatre), Ken understands pacing, tone, and audience engagement like no one else in the industry. This expertise allows him to treat the sky as a stage and the pilots as performers, utilizing dramatic pacing and narrative structure to create an immersive, "in-the-cockpit" experience for the audience.
In 2022, Ken was named an Honorary Snowbird, a prestigious recognition of his dedication to the Canadian aviation community. He remains one of the few civilian announcers having had the privilege of announcing a public Snowbirds performance.
A Distinctive Approach
A Proven Global Performer
From local community fly-ins to massive international spectacles, Ken’s voice has commanded airspaces across Canada, the United States, and as far as Japan. Whether he is narrating for a crowd of hundreds or hundreds of thousands, Ken scales his energy and expertise to fit the venue. Regional or international, Ken’s up for the job!
The Art of Aerial Storytelling
Ken does more than describe maneuvers; he directs a performance. Drawing on his career as a professional theatre director, he applies dramatic pacing and narrative structure to the flight line. He transforms technical flight routines into "theatre in the sky," keeping crowds captivated from takeoff to touchdown.
Pilot-Perspective Expertise
As a licensed private pilot and an Honorary Snowbird, Ken speaks with the authority of the cockpit. He translates complex aviation mechanics into engaging, accessible commentary. This rare blend of technical flight knowledge and elite military recognition ensures his narration is as accurate as it is inspiring.
"A professional and respected announcer who demonstrates the ability to adjust quickly to schedule and performer changes during the show."
